DBS Speak Up
What to report

If you see any suspicious activity or something wrong in DBS then ‘Speak Up’ and report it. Such things could include:

  • Dishonesty
  • Fraud
  • Bribery
  • Corruption
  • Illegal Activity
  • Conflicts of Interest
  • Financial Statement Fraud
  • Serious Breaches of Policy
  • Theft
  • Unethical Behaviour

Examples of suspicious activity, include:

1. Dishonesty

  • Where a person acts in a dishonest or deceptive way and gains a financial benefit or causes  financial loss;

2. Fraud

  • Where a person works with an outside vendor to defraud DBS through bogus or inflated quotations or invoices; and
  • Where a person establishes dummy vendor companies with puppet or fictitious Directors.

3. Bribery

  • Where a person, in a position of trust, receives a financial benefit which influences their judgment or conduct;
  • Where a person offers money or gifts to a potential customer/client in exchange for business; and
  • Where a person provides payment in order to persuade someone with a responsibility and betray that responsibility.

4. Corruption

  • Where a person enriches themselves by misusing the power entrusted to them;
  • Where an employee offers some advantage (e.g. money, gift, hospitality) inconsistent with their official duty;
  • Where a person uses confidential information, property and services for non-bank activities; and
  • Where a person accepts (from anybody) any remuneration or benefits in the performance of their duties.

5. Illegal Activity

  • Theft, drug sale/use of violence or threatened to create violence and criminal damage against property.

6. Conflict of Interest

  • Where an employee or their partner has any undeclared interest in another company;
  • Where an employee holds any undeclared position in another company having dealings with DBS;
  • Where an employee has family members or friends in business relationships with DBS and does not disclose it;
  • Where an employee receives any financial or non-financial gifts or entertainment (other than those included in the gift, entertainment & sponsorship policy) from other people;
  • Where an employee leaks any information about DBS such as budgets, vendor quotation, confidential information to other unauthorized people.

7. Financial Statement Fraud

  • Where an employee manipulates financial statement information which leads to fraudulent statements and can mislead investors and others; and
  • Where an employee is involved in any intentional publishing of false information at any part of a financial statement.

8. Serious Breaches of Policy

  • Where a person acts against DBS rules and regulations; and
  • Where an employee undertakes their duties outside of existing policies, standards, statutes, procedures or instructions.

9. Theft

  • Where a person takes another person's property without that person's freely-given consent
  • Where a person uses another's identity to obtain goods and services
  • Where a person secretly sells goods and hides the money from the sale

10. Unethical Behaviour

  • Where a person uses their position and power to mistreat or disrespect others
  • Where a person is misusing company time
  • Where a person violates any company’s internal policies.
